Both drivers face DWI charges in head-on crash

Two people who were involved in a head-on collision Saturday afternoon were both charged with being impaired, the N.C. Highway Patrol said.
The collision occurred Saturday at 5:20 p.m., nine miles south of Salisbury on Bringle Ferry Road.
Barbara Sides Cobb, 64, of 3761 Old Mocksville Road, was driving a 2000 Buick.
Cobb was traveling south on Bringle Ferry Road when she crossed the center line and collided head-on with Ezequiel Barrera Carrillo, 39, of 115 Redmon Road, Salisbury, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle.
Carrillo was traveling north on Bringle Ferry Road. Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the road.
According N.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. B.E. Hower, both drivers were charged with driving while impaired.
Carrillo had seven other passengers in his SUV. They were: Guadalupe Camacho, of 155 Redmon Road; Paticia Martinez, of 125 Redmon Road; Vanca Carrillo, also of 125 Redmon Road; Pureca Carrillo, of 125 Redmon Road; Daniel Carrillo, of 125 Redmon Road; Abraham Carrillo, also of 125 Redmon Road; Patricia Carrillo, of 125 Redmon Road.
Cobb was the only occupant in her vehicle. Rowan Regional Medical Center officials say she was transferred. A hospital officials said Tuesday they do not show where Cobb was taken.
The Carrillos and Martinez have all been released from the hospital.
The accident delayed traffic for hours. Trooper A.J. Carpenter investigated.
