One dead, another seriously injured in shooting

KANNAPOLIS ó A Lane Street man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in one man’s death and faces another charge for seriously injuring another.
Manley Johnson III, of 1105 Lane St., has been charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, one count of manufacturing a controlled substance and one count of involuntary manslaughter.
Wednesday night at 11:11, the Kannapolis Police Department responded to a report of gunshots being fired in the area of 1105 Lane St.
Officers found one black male dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Witnesses reported a second black male had also been shot, but had fled the scene on foot.
Trevin Samuel Carr, 26, was later found in Concord when officers responded to an accident at the intersection of Branchview Street and Copperfield Boulevard.
Carr, of Concord, had several gunshot wounds to the torso. He was taken to CMC-NorthEast, where he was undergoing surgery for his wounds. His condition is unknown.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Johnson is under $10,000 secured bond with his first appearance this morning in District Court in Concord.
The circumstances that led up to the shooting remain under investigation.
