MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan’s girls basketball team won again on Thursday.
The Falcons beat Lake Norman, 63-55, and are off to a 12-0 start for the first time since the 2012-13 team won its first 15 outings.
Abigail Wilson scored 21 points for the Falcons in the non-conference game. Cindy Connolly had a career-high 16. Gabby Blabon scored 12, and Taylor Poole had nine.
Madison Saunders scored 23 for the Wildcats (11-1), who took their first loss. Ellie Erwin had 11.
Lake Norman played without Wingate commit Lauren Sullivan.
Lake Norman was ranked 20th in the state by MaxPreps coming into the game.

MOUNT ULLA — A big fourth quarter gave Lake Norman’s boys a 74-64 win against West Rowan on Thursday.
Lake Norman (9-4) got 20 points from Seth Aeschliman, 14 from Jack Edmonson and 13 from Camden Kepley.
Kepley is the son of former North Rowan athlete Carvie Kepley.
Macari Allison made five 3-pointers and scored 21 for the Falcons (6-5).
Jalen Moss scored 15.

Livingstone women
ELIZABETH CITY — Livingstone’s women’s basketball team lost in overtime, 81-80, to Elizabeth City State on Thursday in CIAA action.
Daisa Harris scored 28 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Blue Bears. Daijah Turner had 18 points and nine rebounds. Adel Allen scored 14.
Harris missed a potential game-winning jumper at the end of regulation.
Nyasia Blango’s three-point play in overtime put the Vikings ahead to stay.
Asia Deal scored 19 for the winners.

North Rowan boys
NEW LONDON — North Rowan’s boys won 66-47 at North Stanly in Wednesday’s Yadkin Valley Conference action.
North Rowan sophomore Brandon White had his first triple double with 18 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks.
Quashawn Carpenter scored 12 points, and Denerio Robinson had 10.
North Rowan (8-3, 6-0) stayed unbeaten in the YVC.
North Rowan held North Stanly to nine points in the first half and led 22-9 at the break.
“We were really good on defense, especially in that first half,” North coach Jason Causby said.
Naethan De Los Reyes scored 13 for the Comets (7-6, 4-2). Koby Poole had 12.

Jamarius Hairston (Carson) had 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as Davidson County Community College stayed unbeaten on Wednesday with a 115-70 romp against Vance-Granville Community College.
College women
Shenique Pharr (East Rowan) scored 23 points in Salem’s 79-56 loss to Greensboro.
Pharr shot 8-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-7 on 3-pointers.

Erwin’s girls defeated North Rowan, 27-16.
Erwin was led by Savannah Wise with nine points and Lily Kluttz with six.
North Rowan was led by Aubrey Martin with eight points.
Beach volleyball
Catawba beach volleyball is set to begin its first season.
Patrick Nicholas, who coaches Catawba’s volleyball and beach volleyball teams, announced the schedule for 2020.
“This is very exciting,” Nicholas said. “Beach Volleyball is the fastest growing sport for high school-aged females in the country, and I am honored to be a part of this inaugural season as an NCAA sanctioned sport.”
Catawba will be hosting the Catawba Beach Classic on March 13-14.
