N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance forces will be closing North Main Street near Lafayette Street in Salisbury from 8 a.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary to allow maintenance work at the railroad crossing.
There will be a posted detour for motorists:
– If driving north on Main Street: Turn right on Innes Street; turn left on Long Street; turn left on 11th Street and back to Main Street.
– Driving south on Main Street: Turn left on 11th Street; turn right on Long Street; turn right on Jake Alexander Boulevard and back to Main Street.
The Department of Transportation reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
