CWU World Community Day was held at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist on November 2. The theme for the day was The Time Is Now! “ Resolved to Love.”
Gloria Bradshaw of First Calvary Missionary Baptist was the chair of the Celebration. She gave the history and purpose of the celebration.
Welcome and opening prayer were given by Associate Pastor, Rev. Ruby Steel and church representative Jean Lowery.
Unit President. Vickie Kotlarz, Sacred Heart Catholic, also welcomed the attendees. Program participants were Dorothy Gill-Smith and Anita Hovis, Moore’s Chapel AME Zion; Lynn Bolick, St. Luke’s Episcopal; Montrella Davis, Sacred Heart Catholic; Jean Kennedy, Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion; Phyllis Thomside, St. Luke Baptist; Betty Jo Hardy, Milford Hills UMC.
The awarding of Key Woman Award was a highlight of the meeting. Recipients of the Key Woman Award were, Karen Alexander, First United Church of Christ; Montrella Davis, Sacred Heart Catholic; Carol Ann Stout, St. Luke Baptist. These are women who have contributed in active and valuable ways to the life of their church and community.
The next meeting of SRCWU will be the Annual meeting at First Presbyterian at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 2. The public is welcome.
