GQ-Shuford School reunion begins today

The Granite Quarry-Shuford School’s 12th reunion starts today and continues Saturday and Sunday at the Geneva Oglesby Community Center in Granite Quarry. This year’s theme is “Through the Years.”
Activities begin at 5 tonight with registration, a reception, and a dance.
The Saturday scholarship breakfast will include the presentation of the reunion scholarships to children of relatives who attended Granite Quarry-Shuford School. Dr. Rudolph Oglesby, of Kernersville, is the scholarship chairperson.
The Memorial Service will be held at New Zion Baptist Church.
Troy L. Baker Jr. of Raleigh will be the banquet speaker Saturday night. He is a graduate of East Rowan High School and Winston-Salem State University. He received his MBA from Rutgers University School of Management.
He is a former property agent for North Carolina. He is assistant head track coach at Sanderson High School, Raleigh.
He is married to the former Hilda Burnett, deputy attorney, North Carolina Attorney General’s Office. They have two daughters, Alyah, a 2005 Duke University graduate, and Adya, a senior at Duke.
