A Salisbury man who had previously been charged in February with taking items from Wal-Mart and assaulting a loss-prevention officer has now been charged with robbery.
William Quincy Piland, 49, of 440 Leazer Road, was charged with one count of felony common law robbery.
The incident occurred Feb. 15 at Wal-Mart, 323 S. Arlington St., when a loss prevention officer caught Piland taking food from the store, according to a police report.
The Salisbury Police charged Piland with larceny, assault, carrying a concealed weapon (pocket knife) and possession of drug paraphernalia (crack pipe).
His charges were upgraded this week.
