CLEVELAND ó A Saturday afternoon fire destroyed a large piece of machinery at Myers Forest Products.
Four fire departments were called out around 3 p.m. to a report of a machine on fire.
When Cleveland firefighters arrived at the Mountain Road location, they found a tub grinder on fire.
The device grinds large pieces of wood into mulch.
Neighboring fire departments responded to assist, including Scotch Irish, Woodleaf and Franklin.
“It took a lot of water,” Capt. Bryan Little of the Cleveland Department said.
Several tankers were used to transport water to the site.
Firefighters worked to keep the fire from spreading to mulch piles near the grinder.
It took around two hours to douse the fire.
Little said the tub grinder was destroyed. No estimate of dollar value was available.
