Foreclosure prevention seminar to be held Tuesday in Statesville

STATESVILLE ó A Foreclosure Prevention and Affordable Housing Expo will be held at the Statesville Civic Center on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The expo is free to the public and will include presentations on various housing issues and programs. Among the featured speakers is Laurie Maggiano, senior policy advisor with the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Financial Stability. She will make a presentation on President Obama’s new loan modification and refinance program called “Making Home Affordable.”
A presentation on foreclosure prevention programs and other housing topics will be held at 1 p.m. and repeated at 6 p.m. Homeowners can sign up to apply for the new loan modification and refinance program from 1 to 7 p.m.
A presentation on affordable housing opportunities is scheduled for 3 p.m., and a presentation on weatherization and energy efficiency for 4 p.m. There will also be special information sessions for housing professionals, including guidelines and procedures for the Making Home Affordable program at 3 p.m.
Throughout the day, local agencies and businesses will provide information on affordable housing opportunities and the services they offer. Information booths will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The expo is sponsored by the Statesville Housing Authority, Habitat for Humanity of Iredell County, Wesley Community Development Corp. and ICARE Inc.
