OLIN — Huge games by Macari Allison, Chaz McCombs and Zeek Biggers propelled West Rowan’s boys to an 84-60 North Piedmont Conference win at North Iredell.

Allison made five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 24 points. McCombs had 21 points and 12 rebounds. Biggers scored a career-high 20 points and had 16 boards.

West had three players score 20-plus for the first time since a 91-77 win against Salisbury in 1995. Quincy Hall (23), Paul Cuthbertson (27) and Chavis Cowan (22) had big games in that one.

Biggers tallied 15 in the first half as the Falcons took a 41-28 lead. A spree of 3-pointers early in the second half by Allison broke it open.

Jackson Hawkins led North Iredell (9-13, 4-4) with 17 points.

West Rowan (12-8, 6-2) stayed tied for first with Statesville.

TROUTMAN — East Rowan’s boys stayed with South Iredell for a half, but when the Mustangs cooled off, South Iredell pulled away for a 78-61 North Piedmont Conference victory on Friday.

Vincent Jones posted his third straight double-double for the Mustangs and led East’s scoring with 16 points. Cameron Padgett scored 14.

East (2-20, 0-8) got three 3s apiece from Dylan Valley and Gavin Sprinkle, who scored 11 each.

“We were very efficient offensively and shot the ball very well in the first half,” East coach Trey Ledbetter said. “But they clamped down on Valley in the second half and we couldn’t throw it in the ocean.”

Gavin Morrison paced the Vikings (7-14, 4-4) with 16 points.  South Iredell beat West Rowan and Carson with buzzer-beaters and has made a charge in the NPC standings.

MISENHEIMER — North Rowan’s boys took their third Yadkin Valley Conference win of the week on Friday and are in great position to at least share the league championship.

North won easily at Gray Stone, 68-40, after building a 35-11 halftime cushion.

The Cavaliers (15-6, 13-2) got one of the best efforts of the season from Kendrell Goodes, who made three 3-pointers, scored 21 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Brandon White had 13 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. Zay Davis scored 12 points. Quashawn Carpenter had four assists.

North made seven 3-pointers.

Marshall Overcash led the Knights (1-16, 1-12) with 14 points. David Almond scored 12.

North hosts high-powered Moravian Prep on Saturday at 7 p.m.

THOMASVILLE — Salisbury’s boys had no issues at East Davidson on Friday and rolled to a 62-43 Central Carolina Conference victory.

Salisbury led 29-17 at halftime.

Cam Stout made three 3-pointers and scored 13 for the Hornets (14-7, 11-5). Nate Brown scored 10. Everyone scored for the Hornets.

The Hornets moved into third place in the CCC.

Spencer Leonard scored 12 for the Golden Eagles (1-20, 1-15).

STATESVILLE — Carson got nine 3-pointers and a career-high 31 points from AJ Mauldin, but couldn’t hold off Statesville on Friday.

“He shot it well and we were able to find him him a lot,” Carson coach Brian Perry said.

The Greyhounds put four men in double figures and won 77-71 against the Cougars.

Foul trouble made things difficult for Carson. EJ Clark, who averages 20 points, scored 11  in the first quarter but didn’t score again.

Clark’s third foul came in the second quarter and was accompanied by a technical, which counted as his fourth foul.

He sat out the rest of the second quarter and all of the third quarter and fouled out midway through the fourth quarter.

Javon Smith scored 16 for Carson (11-11, 4-4).

Carson led 36-33 at halftime and took a 51-50 lead to the fourth quarter.

“We just couldn’t get to the foul line as much as they did, and that ended up being too much to overcome,” Perry said.

Carson shot 18 free throws and made 11. Statesville shot 43 free throws and made 26.

Statesville (15-5, 6-2) stayed tied for first with West Rowan. The Greyhounds got 21 from Chris Brown and 18 from Miykei Fields.

LANDIS — South Rowan stayed in the game with talented Lexington for three quarters, but the Yellow Jackets pulled away in the fourth for a 62-47 win on Friday.

The victory kept Lexington (17-4, 14-2) tied for first place in the Central Carolina Conference with North Davidson.

Derrick Dearmon scored 20 for the Yellow Jackets, while 6-foot-8 Alex Holt had 18.

Braden Graham made three 3-pointers in the third quarter and scored 23 for the Raiders (4-18, 4-12), the 14th time this season he’s scored at least 20.

Jamarien Dalton and Tedric Jenkins scored 15 each for the Black Knights (18-4, 14-2).
