Robert and Susan Smith of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Alyssa Lynne Smith, to Phillip Nelson Harris, Jr.

Alyssa is the granddaughter of Lin L. Miller of Lake Norman, the late Charles E. Owen and wife Mary of Salisbury and the late Robert L. Smith and wife Jane Smith-Steinberg, also of Salisbury. A 2007 graduate of Graystone Day School, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with minors in Biology and Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011 and a Masters of Public Health in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior in 2015. She is employed as the Executive Director of Healthy Rowan.

Phillip is the son of Phil and Linda Harris of Stanfield and Kay and Larry Craven of Concord. He is the grandson of G. Max Harris and the late Delores Harris of Concord and Jo and Jim Green of Harrisburg. A 2008 graduate of Concord High School, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Appropriate Technology in 2013 from Appalachian State University. He is currently employed at Harris Landscaping.

A ceremony is scheduled for April 25, 2020 at Lady Bird Farm in Rockwell.
