To the senators who acquitted President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial: shame on you.

Shame on you for allowing the president to break the law and not be held accountable. Shame on you for taking the following oath before God knowing that you would not honor it and had already made up your mind to acquit: “Do you solemnly swear that in all things pertaining to the trial of Donald John Trump, president of the United States, now pending, you will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws so help you God.” 

Senators were then required to sign the oath book acknowledging that they took this oath. Didn’t your conscience bother you, knowing you were not taking this oath in good faith? 

Shame on you for knowing that the president was guilty as charged but choosing to ignore the proven facts. Shame on you for refusing to call witnesses and requesting relevant documentation knowing that to do so would just provide more proof that the president was guilty. 

Didn’t it bother you at all that you willingly participated in a sham trial that would not be tolerated under any other circumstances?

Shame on you for putting your own interests before the interests of the people you were elected to serve.

You are not so unaware that you did not know the president abuses the power of his office, obstructs justice, constantly lies and that is very vindictive. 

Shame on you for providing the president with the ability to continue his unchecked behavior without consequences.

Just look at how the president is seeking revenge and firing respected career professionals whose honest testimony was not favorable to him. Are you really willing to trade a democratic form of government for an autocracy — a country governed by one person with absolute power? Shame on you!
