LEXINGTON — It took two overtimes, but Salisbury’s girls won their first conference tournament since 2011 on Friday.

The top-seeded Hornets survived 48-43 against seventh-seeded Oak Grove.

Salisbury (25-1) got 18 points from Anayia Fulson and 11 from Rachel McCullough.

Kyla Bryant made a 3-pointer in the second overtime, and McCullough made two free throws.

CC Wooten led Oak Grove (16-11) with 10 points.

Salisbury led by nine at halftime and was up 10 in the third quarter, but Oak Grove had an 11-1 run to tie the game with six minutes left.

Oak Grove had shots to win the game at the end of regulation and at the end of the first overtime.

But the Hornets pulled it out. They won their 17th in a row.

Oak Grove beat Ledford and North Davidson, the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, to reach Friday’s championship game.

“They came ready to play and gave us a fight,” Salisbury coach Lakai Brice said. “That’s the type of game we need going into the playoffs. We haven’t faced that all year long. We needed this and we did a good job responding.”
