Letter: Kudos for adopting stretch of Long Ferry Road

My hat goes off to Mitchell Snider, owner of Snider’s Quality Roofing, not for his roofing abilities, although I’m sure they are great, but for his diligence and attention to detail in accepting the responsibility of adopting a stretch of Long Ferry Road in the Adopt a Highway program.
I commend his spirit of volunteerism in taking on a task that doesn’t pay one thin dime.
Many do not remember President Lyndon B. Johnson or his administration or his wife known as “Lady Bird.”
“Lady Bird” took it upon herself to clean up and beautify the thousands of miles of roadways in America as part of a program called Beautify America. Since then, she has been recognized time and again for pioneering the cleanup of the dumping grounds of America’s roadways. Oh yes, if you ever got a ticket for littering, you can thank “Lady Bird.”
I don’t think Mitchell Snider can give us a ticket, but I’m sure on some hot July days, armed only with a grabber and a trash bag, he wishes he could.
