Word spread quickly among residents in the Fulton Heights area about gang graffiti that was spray-painted on a number of homes and other buildings.
Several homeowners reported the vandalism Saturday afternoon. That same day, an e-mail went out to neighbors warning them about the vandalism.
Property owners on Wiley Avenue, South Fulton Street and Elm Street discovered blue spray paint on multiple homes, garages and fences in the neighborhood.
Neighborhood Watch program leader Douglas Black said Tuesday residents have handled incidents in the past by sending pictures to Gang Unit Officer Todd Sides of the Salisbury Police Department.
The officer confirms for them whether the graffiti is gang-related.
The watch program also asks property owners to remove the graffiti as quickly as possible, he said.
Salisbury Police Chief Mark Wilhelm said removal of graffiti is up to the homeowner, but his department will work with them to help remove the spray paint.
He said the Police Department has chemicals to remove the paint.
