SALISBURY — Charter Communications, Inc. announced on Tuesday that the newly remodeled Spectrum store is now open in Salisbury at 1216 Lincolnton Road.

The store will give consumers in the area a comfortable area to learn more about Spectrum’s video, internet and voice services, including its latest offering of Spectrum Mobile. Spectrum Mobile combines LTE and a nationwide network of Spectrum WiFi hotspots. Customers can save money on a single line as well as bring their own phone or choose among the latest mobile devices to activate in the store.

“Our new Spectrum stores provide an updated design and enhancements for showcasing innovation across the full suite of Spectrum services,” said Pattie Eliason, the Group Vice President for Spectrum Stores, in a press release. “Our representatives will show customers the latest advances in technology — including our exciting new Spectrum Mobile options — help them become familiar with using it and put together just the right package of Spectrum services for their home and family.”

The remodeled store is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Customers can also conduct transactions like account payments and upgrading or exchanging equipment at the store.

 

Tractor Supply holds annual fundraiser for FFA chapters

Tractor Supply Company, including the local store located at 405 Jake Alexander Blvd., participated in the annual Grants for Growth campaign to benefit local FFA chapters both locally and nationwide.

From Feb. 19 to March 1, donations were accepted in store or online at TractorSupply.com. The grants fund projects within the same state the funds are donated in.

“We are committed to the FFA mission of making a positive difference in the lives of our students,” said Christi Korzekwa, the senior vice president of marketing at Tractor Supply. “Thanks to the passion our team members and customers have for supporting their communities, Tractor Supply will continue to invest in the next generation of agricultural leaders.”

Grants for Growing first launched in 2016 by Tractor Supply, and its ability to fund FFA projects has increased each year. Last year, Tractor Supply’s campaign raised a record $970,121, which funded 259 grants and impacted more than 24,000 students across the country. To date, the program has raised more than $3.2 million for the National FFA Organization and has funded 1,258 grants supporting agricultural projects.

FFA chapters will submit applications later this spring with detailed proposals. Each application will include how the chapter would start, maintain or expand on a project that will benefit their local areas as well as both current and future FFA students. In the past, funds have been requested to purchase vegetation, trees, seed, chickens, feed, mulch and tools for projects ranging from livestock shelters, beekeeping and aquaculture labs.

Special 80% off pet adoption event at Rowan Animal Shelter on March 7

SALISBURY – A special adoption event will take place at the Rowan County Animal Control shelter, located at 1465 Julian Rd., on March 7, where adoptions will be 80% off.

“We appreciate the opportunity to do this,” said Animal Services Director Bob Pendergrass, crediting the grant from the Rowan County Board of Commissioners received two years ago.

The grant allows for these special adoption events to take place 20 times per year, Pendergrass said. They are normally conducted when there’s a greater need for the animals to be adopted. And more of the events happen in the summer, he said.

He credited the events with being successful each time, with the shelter moving up to 80 animals in one day during one of the discounted adoption events.

The animal shelter is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Animals adopted have vaccinations and microchips and are either spayed/neutered or include a voucher to have the animal spayed or neutered by a veterinarian.

 

Patterson Farm Market & Tours selected among ‘most loved’ business in Lake Norman area

MT. ULLA — Patterson Farm Market & Tours is a co-winner in the Most Loved Farm category of the recent Hulafrog website competition.

The Lake Norman-based website connects parents through email to local events and businesses in the community. Parents who participate in Hulafrog voted for their “most loved” family-friendly businesses from Jan. 7 until Feb.  7. The categories included farms, children’s camps, theaters, arts and dance studios, as well as family photographers, candy stores, charter schools, cleaning services, charity organizations and pediatric/family dentistry.

Hulafrog is a New Jersey-based organization that is now in more than 250 markets, representing 2,200 cities and 37 states.

Patterson Farm Market & Tours is a tourist attraction in Rowan County. It’s a family-owned business, operated by Michelle and Doug Patterson. It features school tours and seasonal weekend family activities, children’s camps, holiday events and produce market. Last year, more than 25,000 school children visited the farm to learn about farm history, animal life and crops, according to a press release.

Patterson Farm Market & Tours is part of the larger Patterson Farm of Millbridge, NC, which is one of the largest tomato producing farms in the state.
