STATESVILLE — A Salisbury pair were charged with possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and marijuana following a Friday traffic stop where the drugs were found in their vehicle, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Anthony Brown, 38, of the 100 block of Ridge Avenue, and Marrisa Kaye Cook, 28, of the 100 block of Fairfield Lane, both in Salisbury, were both charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of crack cocaine, felony maintain a vehicle for the sale/use of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Salisbury Highway at Bethesda Road for an equipment violation. After approaching the vehicle, the deputies identified the driver as Michael Anthony Brown, and his passenger, Marissa Kaye Cook, the statement said.

Sergeant L. Hayes and his K-9 Danny arrived to assist with the traffic stop. They conducted a walk around search of the exterior of the vehicle. K-9 Danny alerted on the vehicle for the presence of an illegal narcotic.

Deputies then searched the vehicle, along with Brown and Cook. The search located crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana, methamphetamine, $874, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Brown and Cook were each given a $25,000 secured bond. Brown has since bonded out of the Iredell County Detention Center while Cook remains in the jail facility.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Brown has a criminal history of three felony counts of selling cocaine, three felony counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, one felony count of possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule III, two felony counts of possession of cocaine, one count of misdemeanor resisting a public officer, and traffic violations.

Cook has a criminal history of one felony count possession of heroin, one felony count of possession of schedule II, one count of felony obtaining property by false pretense, one count of misdemeanor larceny, one count of misdemeanor breaking or entering, one count of misdemeanor resisting a public officer, two counts of misdemeanor simple assault, and one count of misdemeanor drug paraphernalia.

Cook is on active probation, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
