The Covenant Community Connection, a sub-group of the Salisbury Rowan Human Relations Council, will co-sponsor the next Catawba College Community Forum at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. The title of the forum is “Meet Your Neighbor.”
The group is “committed to being a multi-cultural voice helping to foster unity and harmony in our community,” member Betty Jo Hardy said in a press release. “For a long time we have wanted to have a forum that focuses on words and feelings of fear that divide the human family.”
Moderator for the forum is Chris Verner, opinion editor at the Salisbury Post. Panelists are Rabbi Dr. Andrew Ettin, of Temple Israel in Salisbury; Dr. Bryant Norman, an African-American dentist; Elai Gegorek, a Hispanic businesswoman; Dr. Samuel Dansokho, a professor at Hood Theological Seminary and native of Senegal; Dr. Yen-Wan Hung, a Livingstone professor and native of China; Todd Adrian, president of PFLAG; and a representative of the Muslim community to be announced.
“We invite the community to come, listen and learn about the richness of this community and expand your understanding of our diverse population,” Hardy said.
The forum will be held in the Tom Smith Auditorium in Ralph W. Ketner Hall on the campus of Catawba College. Admission is free.
