Man arrested after chase through city

A Salisbury man was in the Rowan County Detention Center after leading a Rowan County sheriff’s deputy on a chase through much of Salisbury late Tuesday afternoon.
Chester Odell Polk, 27, of 804 E. Franklin St., faces an array of charges.
He’s being held under a $4,000 bond, charged with fleeing to elude arrest and reckless driving to endanger.
Polk is being held under a $1,000 bond, charged with no operator’s license, driving left of center, driving with an expired registration, resisting a public officer and failure to heed a blue light and siren.
He is also accused of driving at least 15 mph over the posted speed limit.
According to arrest warrants filed at the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office, Polk led officers on a chase through much of western Salisbury ó along Statesville Boulevard, Sexton Street, East Colony Drive, Welch Drive, Forestdale Drive and Edgedale Street.
He’s scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday.
