Bus service, garbage contract on China Grove agenda

CHINA GROVE ó Officials are set to talk garbage, public transportation and stimulus funding at the Board of Aldermen meeting this evening.
Phil Conrad with the Cabarrus-Rowan Metropolitan Planning Organization will discuss plans for the Rowan Express bus service, which starts April 6.
Two of the stops for the new transit system will be in China Grove, one at the Police Department parking lot and one at the Food Lion on South Main Street.
Other items on the agenda include:
– Consideration of a preliminary conditional-use permit at Northend Plaza, the site of a new Pizza Hut under construction.
– Town Manager Bill Pless will update the board on the solid waste contract.
– Pless will also discuss opportunities for stimulus funding for China Grove.
The board meets at 7 tonight at the Municipal Building at 205 Swink St.
