Looks like March could be greeted with snow across a good part of North Carolina.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for all of North Carolina west of U.S. 1.
Forecasters say rain will change to snow Sunday morning in the mountains, spreading east through the day.
The weather service says up to 8 inches of now could fall in the mountains and foothills, with 3 to 6 inches in places like Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh.
Road crews have been put on alert across the state.
March snows are unusual, but not unheard of.
A storm crippled North Carolina starting March 1, 1980. At least 6 inches of snow was reported almost statewide, with more than a foot falling from Interstate 95 eastward.
