Registration for the Salisbury Police Department’s annual Citizen’s Police Academy ends March 10.
The academy is an 11-week course that meets every Tuesday beginning March 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The classes will be held at the Police Department, 130 E. Liberty St.
Participants must be at least 18 years old and there will be a preliminary background check to determine an applicant’s suitability.
Applicants can live outside the city of Salisbury.
Instructors will discuss topics including firearms training, gangs, crime scene investigation, K-9 demonstrations and polygraph demonstrations. Some off-site sessions include firearms and SWAT demonstrations.
Guest speakers for the course will be from the criminal justice system.
Applications can be downloaded from www.salisburyncpd.org and turned in at the Police Department.
