Loose pants helped trip up a juvenile who has been charged with breaking into vehicles on West Council Street and later threatening to burn down the house of one victim if she didn’t leave him money.
Salisbury Police received a call of a car break-in at 616 W. Council St. early Sunday morning. The victim, Jessica Jordan, told officers someone had broken into her vehicle. The woman’s neighbor, Kimberlee Wilson, said items also had been taken from her vehicle.
Someone had ransacked the vehicles, taking GPS navigation systems, a cell phone and charger, an iPod and radar equipment, according to police.
Gang grafitti, “Westside Blood Gang,” was painted on one vehicle’s passenger side.
Police said they believe the juvenile, a 15-year-old Salisbury boy, also sent Wilson a text message saying if she did not leave $100 in her glove box, then he would burn the house down.
Police were waiting for the teenager when he returned to the scene about 15 minutes later, around 2:40 a.m. When officers confronted the teen, he took off but was captured after a short foot chase.
It was his own pants that allowed police to catch him. His pants fell down around his ankles, and he tripped on them. He was arrested at 2:42 a.m.
The Post does not identify juveniles involved in crimes.
