Jerry Neely II earns Eagle award

Jerry Neely II
Jerry Michael Neely II, 18, son of Jerry Michael Neely and Trudy Cowan Neely, received his Eagle Scout Award Feb. 8 at St. John’s Lutheran. Henry Trexler, Scoutmaster, made the presentation.
A member of Troop 443, sponsored by St. John’s Lutheran Church, he earned the Arrow of Light in Cub Scouting.
For his Eagle project, he coordinated a food drive for Rowan Helping Ministries, collecting $550 in donations and more than 2,200 food items. The project included more than 20 people and more than 87 service hours from Scouts, friends and family.
He has earned 21 merit badges, the Fifty-Miler award and kayaking BSA. He attended Pamlico Sea Base and earned the Order of the Arrow. He has held the positions of assistant patrol leader, senior patrol leader, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and Venture Crew treasurer.
A senior at East Rowan High School, he is in the marching band and was chosen for All-County Band. He is a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and the Senior High Youth Group. He is an usher, instructor for children’s church and works with the youth sign language ministry.
Dustin Pruitt
Dustin Tyler Pruitt, 18, grandson of Earl and Betty Pruitt of Cleveland, earned his Eagle Scout Award Feb. 8 at First United Methodist Church of Salisbury. David B. Wilson, Scoutmaster of Troop 442, chartered to First United Methodist Church, made the presentation.
He has earned 25 merit badges and is instructor in his troop.
A junior at North Hills Christian Academy, he is class president, a member of the baseball and basketball teams and is all-conference in basketball. He earned the Service Above Self award from Rowan Rotary and Rowan United Way.
He completed the trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, has earned two 50-Miler awards (backpacking and canoeing) and the Historic Trails award. His Eagle project was making improvements to the nature trail at SouthEast Middle School.
Steven Page
Steven Thomas Page, 15, son of Tommy and Mary Willis Page of Salisbury, received his Eagle Scout Award Feb. 8 at First United Methodist Church.
David B. Wilson, Scoutmaster of Troop 442, chartered to First United Methodist Church, made the presentation. Page has earned 27 merit badges and is Patrol Leader.
A sophomore at Salisbury High School, he tied for first in his class, is a member of the Cross-Country team, Varsity Tennis team, Math Club, Spanish Club, Key Club, Young Life, USTA Tennis, Youth Leadership Rowan and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, where he is an acolyte and in the youth group).
He completed the trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and has earned two 50-Miler awards (backpacking and canoeing). His Eagle project was landscaping the perimeter of the softball field at Salisbury High School.
