Thank you to the gentleman in military fatigues that came to my aid in Walmart.

I was buying groceries for my 88-year-old mom through the self-checkout line on Wednesday around noon. The attendant told me that I was not allowed to buy two 1-pound packages of ground beef that were in my cart. I guess it’s a recent policy to keep people from hoarding meat. I reluctantly handed over one of my packages of ground beef and continued checking out.

I was startled when a soldier came up behind me and asked what door I would be exiting from when I finished. I realized that he must have been in the line behind me, overheard the exchange between myself and the attendant and had purchased the meat for me.

I don’t have any idea who you are, but your kindness fed my soul. Thank you. God bless you and your family, and thank you for your service.

Your generosity and compassion was a bright light in these uncertain times and, in this case, sustained me far more than the hamburger meat ever could.
