Update: Woodleaf woman charged with manslaughter in husband’s death

A drug overdose is the cause of death of her husband, Charles E. Dodson last Friday.
Odessa Dodson, has been charged with manslaughter in his death.
On Friday, Feb. 6 at about 2 p.m., the Rowan County Sheriffís Office responded to 2215 Needmore Road, Woodleaf, for a death investigation.
Deputies arrived on the scene and met with EMS personnel. The victim was Charles Dodson, 42, who lived at the address. The body was sent for an autopsy after the investigation.†Preliminary results indicate Charles Dodsonís death was due to a drug overdose.
During the investigation, it was determined that Charles Dodson had been given medication by his wife, Odessa Dodson, that was prescribed for her use.†It also determined that both Odessa and Charles Dodson were scheduled to appear in court in Chatham County on Feb. 11 for a case in which Odessa was accused of assaulting Charles.
Information was presented to the District Attorneyís office, and investigator Sam Henline obtained warrants for Odessa Dodson, 45, for involuntary manslaughter.†She was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
