Two teens who live in the Fulton Heights neighborhood were charged this week with being involved in a rash of break-ins in that area.
Salisbury Police Department detectives arrested Glenn Henry Strickland, 17, and Antonio Vincent Patton, 18, both of 614 Wiley Ave., on Tuesday. They have been charged with five break-ins.
Strickland was charged with three counts of second-degree burglary and felony larceny, one count of felony breaking and entering and one count of attempted felony breaking and entering.
Patton was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and felony larceny, one count of felony breaking and entering, one count of attempted felony breaking and entering and one count of felony accessory after the fact.
Authorities say the teens broke into the same house a couple of times.
The break-ins occurred Nov. 25, Dec. 11, Dec. 19 and Dec. 23
According to Lt. Shelia Lingle, items stolen included guns, jewelry, flatware and some clothes.
“Much of it was recovered,” she said.
Lingle said officers had seen the two in the area and arrested them after weeks of investigating.
Patton tried to sell some of the items at a pawn shop, she said.
In a letter Strickland sent to some of his neighbors in late December, before his arrest, he apologized, police said, for “everything I have done to this neighborhood.” He said he wished he had never done anything and asked to be forgiven.
He admitted to breaking into a home at 615 Wiley Avenue, police say, where he says he took “some jewelry,” and a home on Stanley Street at Mitchell Avenue where he took jackets.
Since that time, he wrote, he’s been miserable and couldn’t live with himself.
Both teens remain in the Rowan County Detention Center, each under a $3,500 bond.
