KANNAPOLIS ó The Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department will meet regarding the proposed Irish Buffalo Creek Greenway on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Kannapolis Middle School, 1445 Oakwood Ave.
After having the greenway proposal on the Parks and Recreation master plan for eight years, the city has secured money to begin the planning. Grant funding from the Cabarrus Health Alliance through the childhood obesity prevention partnership and from the Clean Water Management Trust Fund has made the planning and design phase possible.
The Irish Buffalo Creek Greenway has been designated part of the Carolina Thread Trail, a 15-county regional effort to provide connectivity, alternative transportation methods and preserve natural areas throughout the region.
