SALISBURY — A Salisbury couple faces felony charges after a woman allegedly stole and pawned her mother’s jewelry.
The woman’s boyfriend was also charged in the incident and remains in the county jail.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Samantha Lauren Tidwell, 25, and Joseph Tyler Thompson, 27, both with felony larceny of a firearm and felony larceny.
Thompson was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. He also has a parole violation and a probation violation out of Montgomery County. Thompson remains in the Rowan County jail under a $20,000 secured bond.
Tidwell has since been released from the county jail under a $5,000 secured bond.
The victim, Gene Cable, told deputies three rings were stolen from his wife as well and a rifle was also taken. He suspected his stepdaughter and her boyfriend may have taken the items.
On April 2, Cable told a deputy he believed his stepdaughter pawned his wife’s jewelry. Investigators determined the rings were pawned at Jewelry Mine in Concord on Feb. 21.
Tidwell told a detective she didn’t know the jewelry belonged to her mother. Arrest warrants were issued on April 7 and served on April 10.
