Salisbury hires new human resources director

The city of Salisbury has hired Zechariah “Zack” Kyle as its new director of human resources.
The position reports directly to City Manager David Treme and includes planning, organizing and directing all activities associated with the city’s Human Resources office.
In addition, Kyle will be responsible for coordinating activities with various city departments, citizens, governmental units and outside agencies and organizations, in support of the city manager and Salisbury City Council goals.
He replaces Melissa Taylor, who became human resources director for the city of Winston-Salem.
Kyle has 28 years of experience in human resource management. He has expertise in healthcare procurement, worker compensation, personnel policies, classification and pay plans, recruitment and selection and employee benefits.
Kyle is the former personnel director for the city of Galax and most recently was human resources manager for the city of Radford.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Radford University and is a 2008 LEAD Graduate from the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.
Past professional affiliations include membership in the International Personnel Management Association, president of the Society of Human Resources (Twin County) and a board member of the Virginia Municipal League Human Resources Advisory Committee.
In addition, Kyle has served as past member and chairman of the board of directors of the Twin County United Way, past member and chairman of Mountain Shelter Housing Inc., past chairman of the Salvation Army and past board member of the Twin County Chamber of Commerce.
He currently serves as vice president of the Montgomery, Radford, Floyd United Way and on the board of directors for Main Street Radford.
Kyle and his wife, Linda, have two children, Kevin and Erin.
