Blotter: Thief steals catalytic converter from Cleveland church bus

CLEVELAND — Morning Star Baptist Church told Rowan Sheriff’s deputies someone stole a catalytic converter from a church bus.
The church, located at 175 Young Mountain Road, Cleveland, said sometime between April 11 and April 13, the catalytic converter had been removed from a 2009 Ford E350 bus that had been sitting in the church driveway. The church parked the bus there during the coronavirus outbreak.
Rowan County Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford said thieves typically target catalytic converters for the platinum. The metal is usually pawned. The damage was estimated at $1,000.
