Two Rowan-Cabarrus Community College students have received $5,000 scholarships from the N.C. State Employees Credit Union (SECU).
Emily Taylor and Hannah Waller of Salisbury have received “People Helping People” scholarships from the SECU.
Taylor is a nursing student, and Waller is enrolled in medical office administration.
SECU started the People Helping People scholarship program in 2005 to assist North Carolina community college students.
To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a degree, diploma or certificate program; achieve a grade-point average of 2.5 or higher; have demonstrated leadership skills; be a North Carolina resident; and exemplify the philosophy of “people helping people.”
Recipients can use the scholarship funds for tuition, books, fees, course supplies and transportation.
