Albemarle police charge man in fatal hit-and-run

ALBEMARLE ó Albemarle police have charged a man with driving a car that struck and killed a 12-year-old here last week.
Gerrius Antoine Davis, 27, of 290 Lowder St., was arrested Monday, charged with felony hit and run and obstruction of justice.
He was released on $10,000 bond.
According to Albemarle police, Daniel Brown was struck Jan. 19 while riding a razor scooter on Leonard Avenue. The car didn’t stop.
Witnesses described the vehicle as dark-colored with tinted windows. News reports prompted several phone calls offering tips about the car and its driver.
On Friday, officers with the Albemarle Police Department and Stanly County Sheriff’s Department went to a house on Gold Hill Road to see if a car parked there might be the one involved in the fatal accident.
The car believed involved in the hit and run, a black 1991 Lexus, was being repaired behind the house. It was seized.
