Film at Enon
Enon Baptist Church invites the community to attend a free screening of the award-winning documentary, “Beneath the Skin: Baptists and Racism,” at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23. Friends Forever TV
Friends Forever TV (FFTV) is hosting the Gathering Missions Weekend, Feb. 20-22 at the Event Center located at 315 Webb Road, Salisbury, on the campus of Cornerstone Church.

Cowboy Church
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will host Cowboy Church at 3 p.m. this Sunday.
Cowboy Church is a non-denominational form of worship adapted from the Old West concept of friends, family and others gathering for an informal worship experience. This service is open to the community. Some attendees wear Western clothing.
This month’s service will feature steel guitar virtuoso Jerry Bowman from Taylorsville. Musical guests will also include DC and The Chosen Few.

The Rev. Dr. Grant Harrison Jr., pastor of Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church, will be the guest speaker at St. Luke Baptist Church’s annual Black History Celebration, Sunday at 3 p.m.
Also appearing on this program will be Nah’gen Visions Inc., whose mission is to use the power of the Hip Hop culture to invoke positive behavioral changes in youth.
O’Guin leaving
After nearly 16 years, Pastor Christopher O’Guin of Community Baptist Church will be leaving for another pastorate. The church has planned a service in his honor this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. during the morning worship service. A reception in his honor is planned from 3 to 5 p.m.
In March, O’Guin will become senior pastor at North Kannapolis Baptist Church in Kannapolis.
First United MethodistSix members from First United Methodist Church left for Dulac, La., Feb. 15 to help recovery efforts for those left homeless from hurricanes Katrina, Gustav and Rita.
Volunteering along with team leader Rob Watts are Jay Buxton, Bob Poole, Blair Lawson, Tony Nussman and Dwight Wilhelm.
The team has at least two assignments: roofing a new home, and finishing a large deck/ ramp.The team returned Friday.
Ash Wednesday
KANNAPOLIS ó First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis will conduct an informal Ash Wednesday service on at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25 in the fellowship hall.

Jubilee concert
The Jubilee choir, under the direction of Kay Wright Norman, will present a concert in honor of Black History on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church on Caldwell Street.
Soloists are Teresa Moore-Mitchell, Quinton Woodward, Doris Goodman, Roy Leazer and Mitchell Siegle and Rebecca Stinson.
This event is open to the public. Dr. Clary Phelps is the host pastor for the service. Refreshments will follow in the James Stowe Fellowship Hall.The next Jubilee Choir program will be an Easter Cantata, “I Will Arise” at 4 p.m. Palm Sunday, April 12, at Jerusalem Baptist Church located on Long Street and Long Ferry Road.
Crown in Glory
Crown In Glory Lutheran Church cordially invites the community to Lenten mid-week services on Wednesdays.

CHINA GROVE ó There will be a Sunday Morning Singing at Pine Ridge Baptist Church, located at 880 Old Linn Road in China Grove.
The singing will feature two groups, “The Testimonians” and “4ever 4given.”

First Calvary Baptist Church will observe Black History Month at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The program will feature the Livingstone College Theater Arts Department, the First Calvary Choir and Dance Ministry, Magnify!
The theater arts troupe, directed by Dr. Michael Connor, has performed extensively locally and in other North Carolina cities this year. The students will present a readers’ theater, excerpts of speeches by well known black orators, and a presentation by liturgical dancers.
The First Calvary music department is directed by Winnell Short, minister of music.

The Greenes
GOLD HILL ó The Greenes from Boone will be in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the First Baptist Church of Gold Hill.
