ROCKWELL — A Rockwell teen faces felony charges after Rowan County sheriff’s detectives tied him to a storage shed break-in and the theft of a dirt bike from a Rockwell property.

Caleb Thomas Locklear, 18, of Stolz Road, was charged Tuesday with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny.

A Rockwell man said he was in the middle of repairing the dirt bike for someone else when it was stolen on Feb. 29 from a shed that did not have a door. The bike had been there the night before. When the property owner awoke the next morning, the dirt bike was gone. He estimated the bike was valued at $600.

On March 18, the bike was located at a home in the 1100 block of Deer Valley Drive in Rockwell. The owner of the bike arrived at the location and identified the bike and was able to take it home. The person who had the bike told Rowan detectives he bought it from Locklear.

On March 27, detectives were able to locate Locklear at his mother’s home. A detective obtained a warrant for Locklear’s arrest on May 10. On May 12, Locklear turned himself into the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office.

He was issued a written promise to appear in court.
