Knox DAR names three students Good Citizens

The John Knox Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution has presented the 2008-2009 Good Citizens Awards to Amber Adams, Taylor Bryan and Addison Corriher.
They were selected by the senior class members and faculties of their schools for showing the qualities of leadership, dependability, service and patriotism in the school, home and community.
Adams, a senior at Jesse C. Carson High School, is currently president of the Drama Club, a member and inaugural president of the International Thespian Society, and participated in dance and French clubs. She has worked on the school newspaper, played soccer and been nominated to the National Honor Society.
She has been involved in Piedmont Players. She went to Mississippi with the N.C. Baptist Men’s Association to help clean up after Hurricane Katrina. She is also a dancer.
Daughter of Bob, Melissa and Belinda Adams, she plans to study theater education and history education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Taylor Bryan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey H. Bryan, is a senior at West Rowan High School. She plans to study environmental science at a North Carolina university.
She is president of the National Honor Society and has been involved in Junior Classical League, Environmental Club, Junior Civitan Club and Future Farmers of America, where she is chapter advisor this year. Taylor works with the FFA chapter raising laying hens and taking surplus eggs to a food shelter. She is a member of Neel Road Baptist Church Youth Group.
She competes on the cross-country, track and swim teams at West. She has won numerous awards for her work in FFA and sports and was recently won first place in the United Way-Rotary Club Service Above Self Awards.
Addison Corriher, a senior at South Rowan High School, is the son of Darryl and Barbara Corriher. He has been a member of the Student Council Association each year, is president of the National Honor Society and ranks No. 1 in his class. He has been a member of the Junior Civitan Club, the Young Order of Dramatic Actors, the Environmental Science Club and Interact Club. Corriher has held many positions in the Boy Scouts and earned the Eagle Scout award in 2007.
He is active in St. John’s Lutheran Church and is president of its youth group.
While at South, he has been involved in golf, basketball and cross-country.
He hopes to attend Duke University and study business and international relations.
