Letter: Country will be deep in debt for grandchildren, their kids

Through the years I have read many articles online and on paper about grants that local and state governing bodies receive. Yes, I know often the grants come from private sources. I’m talking about federal grants.
It seems like lately Raleigh on down are standing around with a hand out to receive literally millions of dollars. Take North Carolina for an example, I heard the N.C. Department of Transportation way over spent their budget.
Take a local ride out into the country or down Interstate 85 and look at the sides of the roads. Grass is three feet tall. The contracted mowers have been suspended. Lack of funds? You betcha.
Back to the grants. Now, it is common to “hire a grant writer.” I hear every day about a million here and a million there. Multiply that by 100 counties in N.C. and then by fifty states. $xxx,000,000,000.000.00s. Who is the Fed? Who supports the Fed? How deep in debt is the Fed now? Who will bail out the Fed? You guessed it. My grandchildren right now. When they have grandchildren, we will have a fed that is deep in debt from what we are accepting now.
