SALISBURY — Police say a mother, daughter and two others were at a local hotel prior to a domestic-related shooting that resulted in a janitor being accidentally shot.
Salisbury police are looking for 43-year-old Ramon Everett Torrence on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon and violation of a court order.
The mother told police she was asleep at the Days Inn hotel along with her daughter and two other men when she heard yelling. According to the woman, the suspect stuck his head through a sliding glass door and accused her of sleeping with one of the men, said Detective Russ DeSantis.
Torrence allegedly fired the gun into the floor and they ran out of the room. The suspect ran down the hall and fired the gun again, which led to the 71-year-old janitor being shot in the leg.
Police searched the area around the hotel, which is located at 321 Bendix Drive.
