Area sports briefs: Offers for White; Helms aces par-4; Rowan announces roster

He was offered by Wake Forest, Houston, Ole Miss, Charlotte, East Carolina and South Florida on Monday. A number of other major programs contacted White to express interest.
White’s first two offers came from Virginia Tech and Western Kentucky in March.
It was a doubleheader for bass anglers in Salisbury with the Phoenix Bass Fishing League in action at High Rock Lake.
Brian Morgan of Sherrills Ford, was the top boater on Saturday, taking five bass weighing 22 pounds. He won $5,511.
Morgan had the biggest fish — 6 pounds, 3 ounces.
Salisbury’s Doug Young placed third (5 bass, 16 pounds) and won $1,595. Salisbury’s Lucas Hedrick was fourth (5 bass, 15 pounds, 15 ounces) and won $1,119.
Brad Hendrix led the co-anglers on Saturday with five bass, weighing 19 pounds, 5 ounces, and won $2,381.
Salisbury’s Doug File placed fifth with four bass, weighing 9 pounds, 3 ounces. He won $476.

New London’s Kevin Chandler was the top boater on Sunday, with five bass, weighing 19 pounds, 3 ounces. He won $4,359.
Salisbury’s Rodney Bell took second with five bass, weighing 17 pounds, 15 ounces. He won $2,179.
Mooresville’s David Cooke caught the biggest bass — 6 pounds, 3 ounces.
Leading the co-anglers on Sunday was Greg Robertson of King. He had four bass, weighing 11 pounds, 15 ounces, and won $2,179.
The top 45 boaters and co-anglers in the North Carolina Division, based on point standings, along with the five winners of each qualifying event, will be entered in the Oct. 8-10 Bass Fishing League Regional Championship on the James River in Richmond, Va.
