At Cannon School, the junior kindergarten and kindergarten programs are designed with the needs of the student in mind — not only developing the basic skills of reading, writing and math, but cultivating creativity, curiosity and confidence.
The school’s junior kindergarten and kindergarten information session will be on Monday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m. at Cannon’s campus at 5801 Poplar Tent Road, Concord.
Parents will learn from Head of Lower School Michelle Alexander, junior kindergarten teacher Courtney Harmon, and kindergarten teacher Emily Davis, about Cannon’s educational philosophy, factors that distinguish the junior kindergarten and kindergarten curricula and experiences and additional opportunities for extended day learning.

Cannon School is one of 47 schools nationwide to receive the High School Team Academic Award for both the girls’ and boys’ soccer programs from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). This is the third year that both teams received the award.
A total of 371 high school teams (139 boys’ and 232 girls’) throughout the United States have earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during 2012-13. To qualify for the award, the high school team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
“Once again, our boys’ and girls’ teams have shown that they are excellent students in the classroom and I might add that many are multi-sport athletes,” says Matt Barlow, head coach of the boys’ and girls’ teams. “I appreciate their efforts both on and off the field and am proud of both teams for receiving this accolade for the third year in a row.”
