For the season, Cox Mill won the championship, and Cassell averaged 40.2 per nine holes for the season.
East placed second, with West third, Carson fourth, South fifth, and Concord sixth.
All-conference golfers are South’s Bare, West’s Boley, East’s Stokes and Marcum, and Cox Mill’s Cassell (MVP), Alyssa Henry and Stella Schayan-Araghi.
In the Patsy Rendleman Invitational hosted by Catawba at the Country Club of Salisbury, UNC Pembroke’s women won the team competition with a two-day score of 628.
Newberry was second at 631. Catawba shot 657 and tied for 11th.
Catawba’s Leslie Long shot 74-77 — 151 and finished second overall.
Catawba’s Madison Kennedy (Salisbury) shot 80-79 — 159.
• Catawba’s men competed in the two-day State Farm Invitational in Harrogate, Tenn., and finished eighth.
Lincoln Memorial shot 567 to win the event. Catawba shot 596. Pfeiffer shot 599.
Matt Hardman shot 146 for the Indians to place 21st. Tyler Rutherford shot 147.
• In the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic in Duluth, Ga., UNC Greensboro’s Roy Dixon (Salisbury) shot 5-over 221 and tied for 50th.
UNCG placed ninth.
• In the Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship at Greensboro Country Club, the local team of Russ Priddy-Grey Medinger shot 1-under 70 in the first round to tie for 17th.
Charlotte Mallard Creek, Havelock, North Rowan and Warsaw Kenan are still ranked first in their classifications in the latest AP poll that was released Tuesday.
North Rowan received all 13 first-place votes in 2A.
West Forsyth is seventh in 4A.
Concord is sixth in 3A.
Carson won 3-2 against Central Cabarrus in SPC soccer on Monday.
Brandon Flores scored two goals, raising his season total to 25.
Flores scored in the first half for a 1-0 lead, and Colton Correll found the net from long range for a 2-0 halftime edge.
With the score 2-all, Flores scored the game-winner with three minutes left to play.
Carson (11-4, 9-3) is at league-leading Concord on Thursday.
• Braxton Rogers scored two goals as Carson’s jayvees won 2-0 against Central. Camenino Cabrera had an assist for the Cougars.
•Colton Sherrill scored two goals as West Rowan beat North Rowan 2-0 for its first win of the season.
• Also in the SPC, Cox Mill beat East Rowan 4-0, and Northwest Cabarrus won 3-0 against South Rowan.
In the second round of the dual team tennis playoffs next week, East Rowan will be home against Weddington, and Salisbury will travel to Brevard.
Northwest Cabarrus lost 9-0 to Hickory in a first-round 3A match.
West Davidson lost 6-3 to Surry Central in a 2A first-round match.
No. 4 seed East Davidson knocked off No. 1 seed North Rowan 19-25, 27-25, 25-17, 12-25 and 15-13 in a CCC tournament semifinal on Tuesday.
• No. 3 seed Salisbury lost 25-18, 25-16, 20-25 and 25-20 to No. 2 seed West Davidson on Tuesday.
West Davidson, which shared the regular-season title with North Rowan, plays host East Davidson in the tournament championship game tonight at 7 p.m.
• SPC regular-season finales are tonight. Cox Mill is at Carson. South Rowan is at East Rowan. Hickory Ridge is at West Rowan.

The FCCA Green Dragons (8-2) won a recent regional match against the Carolina Rapids Soccer Club by a score of 8-1.
Scoring for the Green Dragons were Maddox Goodnight (two goals), Wade Robins (two goals), Ben Childress, Colin Donaldson, Oscar Enciso and Hank Webb.
Leading the defensive effort were Ben Sweet, Will Webb, Will Koontz and Bennett Clark.
On Oct. 26, the Hurley YMCA Warriors we are hosting a youth cross country meet at Salisbury Community Park.
On Nov. 9, the Warriors will host the AAU cross country national qualifier in Salisbury.
Josh Smith threw two touchdown passes as Erwin beat West Rowan Middle 32-8 in seventh-grade football on Tuesday.
Diante Gallmon had two TD receptions. Christian Bennett had a rushing TD for the Eagles and added a 2-point conversion. Sam Wall rushed for over 100 yards and added a pair of two-point conversions.
Dylan Bryant also had a 2-point conversion.
Erwin got a big performance from its offensive line and defensive unit.
Erwin is at Corriher-Lipe next Tuesday.
Knox 32, China Grove 0
Bo Rusher threw three touchdown passes for the Trojans and played well at safety for the Trojans.
O’Bryan Mashore caught all three touchdown passes. He had scoring receptions of 35, 50 and 65 yards.
Daveon Robinson rushed 52 yards for a Knox TD.
Tyrone Johnson had a pick-6 and led the Knox defense along with Angelo Parker, Isaiah Rankin, Adam Layman and Omaree Mashore.
Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department is taking registration for its boys basketball league.
The league is for ages 7-15. The cost is $30 per player.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Alonzo Harris rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns to lead Louisiana-Lafayette to a 37-20 victory over Western Kentucky on Tuesday night.
Terrance Broadway had a 1-yard TD run and also threw for a score for the Ragin’ Cajuns (4-2, 2-0 Sun Belt), who have won four in a row since a 48-27 loss at Kansas State last month. Louisiana-Lafayette had 198 yards rushing in the second half.

Antonio Andrews had 28 carries for 154 yards for the Hilltoppers (4-3, 1-2), who led 10-0 after the first quarter. Andrews, who had a 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter, went over 1,000 yards for the season.
Western Kentucky committed four turnovers, including Al Riles’ 99-yard interception return that made it 10-7 with 6:41 left in the second quarter.
Broadway scored late in the third, and then found Jacob Maxwell for a 24-yard TD pass that made it 30-13 with 9:43 remaining in the game.
“When we came out in the second half we got outplayed,” Hilltoppers coach Bobby Petrino said. “They were more physical on the offensive front and ran the ball. They took the first drive and went eight minutes and ran the ball and we were sitting over there on the sideline.”
Brandon Doughty was 18-for-23 passing for 260 yards and a touchdown for Western Kentucky, which had won three in a row. But Doughty also threw two interceptions and was replaced by sophomore Nelson Fishback in the fourth.
Harris had a 1-yard TD run in the second quarter and capped the scoring with a 2-yarder with 2:37 left.
“We knew they were a running team,” Petrino said. “I think what they did was come out in the second half and said they didn’t want to give the ball back to our offense. They didn’t really stop us in the first half, we stopped ourselves with errors and mistakes.”
