CONCORD — Police have arrested a third suspect in the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Mark Gevon Bostic Jr.
Christopher Jammel Whitfield, 19, of Hammock Lane, Kannapolis, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder and firing into an occupied vehicle.
On Thursday, police arrested Marlon Tyrese Banner, 25, and Corey Levi Banner, 18, of Concord on the same charges.
Police say the shooting resulted from a disagreement between groups of people in two cars Sunday evening. They have not said what caused the dispute. Shots were fired. Bostic was hit. Staff at CMC-NorthEast contacted authorities after Bostic arrived in the emergency room with gunshot wounds. He died at the hospital.
At their first appearances Friday, Marlon and Corey Banner asked for court-appointed attorneys, according to the Independent Tribune. They continue to be held in the Cabarrus County Jail without bond pending probable cause hearings Nov. 7.
Whitfield is also in jail awaiting court proceedings.
