Either way, the first ever Odd Ball might be just the ticket.
A fundraiser for Center for Faith & the Arts, the Odd Ball, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at the F&M Trolley Barn, 125 E. Liberty St.
The band Motel Soap will entertain, and there will be a special surprise performance.
Festivities will include a silent auction (including original art and Cheerwine items), a live auction, a costume contest and dancing. You can bid on auction items ahead of time online at faithart.org and at the event.
Tickets are $35 each and include food, entertainment and one complimentary cocktail from the cash bar.
Guests can wear cocktail attire or, for the odd and/or fun-loving, the costume of their choice.

The Salisbury Symphony Guild hosts its Gathering and Talk for members and friends from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
The event is free, and guests can also attend open rehearsal following the talk.
Speakers will include conductor David Hagy, Executive Director Linda Jones and Marjorie Bagley, violin soloist.
The event will be held in Keppel Auditorium on the Catawba College campus.
Refreshments will be served.
The Catawba College Singers will present a free fall concert at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the Omwake-Dearborn Chapel.
The 40-member group is under the direction of Dr. Phillip Burgess, Catawba’s director of choral music and assistant professor of music.
The program will feature Franz Schubert’s “Mass in G: and works by Mozart, Basler, Forrest and others.
These selections will be accompanied by string ensemble, piano, organ and French horn.
Featured soloists include Christina Pier, artist-in-residence, Dr. Barry Sang, Jacob Hahn and student vocalists Reuben “Pen” Chance, Jordan Clifton, Jonathon Lodgek and Patrick Moore.
Burgess, who has served as an adjunct instructor of sacred music for the past three years, began serving as the College’s Director of Choral Music this academic year.
He is well-known in the Salisbury-Rowan community for his ongoing role as organist and choirmaster at the downtown St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
The Catawba Singers is a select choral ensemble open to students by audition only.
Lee Street theatre celebrates the grand opening of its new home with the production of the comedy “All The Great Books (Abridged).”
The play is from the same creators of last year’s hit show “The Complete History of America (Abridged).
Stars Jacob Asher, Jason Roland and Brian Romans will unleash more comic outrage on an unsuspecting public on a 98 minute roller-coaster ride through their compact compendium of the world’s great books.

LEXINGTON — The 30th annual Lexington Barbecue Festival runs from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in Uptown Lexington.
There will be live entertainment on four stages, a carnival and family fun area, bicycle stunt shows, Hogway Speedway, a car show extravaganza, lumberjack sports show, a wine garden, tournaments and races.
Children can enjoy a casting competition, trampoline quad power jump, a rock climbing wall, the 14th annual pig sand sculpture and roving performers.

SPENCER — Register now for the upcoming Pow-wow, and get ready to learn about Native American history and culture.
Guests age 5 to 11 will explore the Native American doll exhibit, enjoy storytime and have fun crafting.
The event is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 at the Spencer Toy and Doll Museum, 108 Fourth St.

The Salisbury Ecumenical Choir will host its annual Glory of Christmas concert Sunday, Dec. 15.
The choir is comprised of singers drawn from the greater Salisbury/Rowan area, who sing at church and civic functions throughout the year. The annual Christmas concert has become a favorite musical event in Salisbury. New members may join at any time and rehearsals begin soon.
Rehearsals will be in the Parish Hall of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. The schedule is as follows:

The Lupus Foundation of America, NC Chapter will be the beneficiary of Cauble Creek Vineyard’s 2013 Vineyard Artist Invitational opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
The vineyard is located at 700 Cauble Creek Farm Road in Salisbury.
The event is being hosted by Crystal’s Crew as a team fundraiser for the 2014 Walk to End Lupus Now in Charlotte.
