UPDATE: 4 p.m.
Deputies responded to 175 Rockwood Drive, off Artz Road in an attempt to find and arrest Jerad Hager on outstanding warrants. Hager ran again before deputies arrived. Deputies began a search for Hager, and during that search found another stolen Harley Davidson motorcycle in the woods behind this residence. This motorcycle was stolen the same day as Kluttz’s break-in, but was stolen from the 7600 block of Old Concord Road, from Dennis Paddock. Hager has been added to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Most Wanted List. The investigation continues.
On Sunday, Oct. 27, a man named Kluttz, who lives on Mt. Hope Church Road, discovered his garage had been broken into. Some engine parts and his 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle had been stolen. Kluttz found the motorcycle hidden in the woods nearby, and notified the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division began conducting surveillance on the location. During the surveillance, at about 2 a.m., 25-year-old Jerad Hager of Cabarrus County was identified as the suspect, along with a female operating a white Honda vehicle. After the suspect’s attempt to steal the motorcycle failed, the suspect vehicle was located in the area on Rockwood Drive, near the Kluttz break-in.
Hager fled into the woods before detectives arrived. Kluttz was able to recovered his stolen property. Warrants were obtained for Hager’s arrest; the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Adam Loflin at 704-216-8686, or Lt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687.
