From tours of historic homes to tours of the city’s four fire stations, October will prove to be a busy month once again in Salisbury.
The month wraps up with another BlockWork extreme makeover, this time of the 700 and 800 blocks of East Franklin Street.
October events include:

• The Rowan County Tourism Development Authority will host OctoberTour Night Out from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 11 downtown.
• Historic Salisbury Foundation will host the 38th annual OctoberTour of Historic Homes Oct. 12 and 13. For more information contact the Historic Salisbury Foundation at 704-636-0103.
• The Salisbury Fire Department will celebrate National Fire Prevention Week by hosting open houses from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 12 at all four city fire stations. There will be activities for children, and citizens can learn about fire safety, tour the fire stations, talk with firefighters and explore fire apparatus.
• The Community Appearance Commission will sponsor the BlockWork Neighborhood Improvement Project on National Make A Difference Day Oct. 26 in the 700 and 800 blocks of East Franklin Street.
