SALISBURY — Salisbury’s newest culinary offering will open next week in a century-old Victorian cottage on South Lee Street.
After several private tastings, Emma’s of Salisbury at 209 S. Lee St. will seat its first paying customers when the restaurant opens to the public at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Owned and operated by Allen Terry, Emma’s will serve breakfast and lunch seven days a week, as well as dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Terry moved Emma’s from Concord to Salisbury. Folks who dined at the old Emma’s will find several of their favorites on the Salisbury menu, including crab cakes, chicken salad, grilled fish, desserts and sweet potato fries.
Nearly everything served is homemade with fresh, local ingredients, organic when available, Terry said.
The restaurant will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Emma’s has seating for 48 inside, with two tables on the front porch and six tables on a new deck constructed at the back of the restaurant.
The restaurant will use the same menu throughout the day, with chef’s specials at lunch and dinner.
Salisbury landed a $70,000 Main Street Solutions grant to put the new eatery in the old house near the strategic downtown corner of South Lee and East Fisher streets, across from the Norvell Theater.
Emma’s stands next to a matching cottage that houses The Perfect Smoke at 213 S. Lee St., which opened earlier this year.
Salisbury received another Main Street Solutions grant to help pay for the $124,000 rehabilitation of The Perfect Smoke building. Owner Darren Moody sells cigars and cigar-related accessories.
