A Landis woman who officials say was in a hurry crashed her minivan into a pole and a house after she ran off the road and lost control of the vehicle.

The 31-year-old woman, whose name was not available, was in serious condition following the single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Old Concord and Cruse roads. The incident occurred at 9:06 a.m. The woman was traveling on Old Concord Road in a 2003 Ford Windstar when she ran off the road to the right, overcorrected, crossed the center line and ran back onto the right side of the road, said N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper J.P. Page.

The woman struck a utility pole, splitting it in half, and hit a house at 6304 Old Concord Road. The van had serious damage to the driver’s side and came to rest against the side of the home.

She was wearing her seat belt and the air bags did deploy, Page said. She was the only occupant in the car. She was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.

Duke Energy and Time Warner Cable were at the residence to cut power to the home so that emergency officials could safely remove the van. Page said she would be charged with driving left of center.
