Rowan County Sheriff’s Investigators have released few details days after two Cleveland cousins were shot to death. Daniel Carlton Redman, 21, and William Thomas Redman, 20, were shot and found dead inside a pickup outside a home on Hildebrand Road late Saturday night.
Some family members have said via social media sites the cousins were in the wrong place at the wrong time and others say they were tangled in a longstanding dispute over a dog, although law enforcement officials haven’t confirmed a dispute.
Investigators met with Rowan County District Attorney Brandy Cook Monday regarding the investigation. No details have been released as to how or if Cook will proceed with formal charges. No one has been charged. The investigation is ongoing.
Authorities received a 911 call around 10:10 p.m. at 1025 Mountain Road, Cleveland. The caller told 911 dispatchers there were several men at the residence with guns. The caller also said shots had been fired and an orange and black Ford F-350 pickup was seen leaving the residence heading toward Carson Road.
Dispatchers received a call from 520 Hildebrand Road, Salisbury, at about 10:25 p.m. The caller told dispatchers there were two gun shot victims at the location in an orange and black pickup. Daniel and William Redman were already dead when investigators arrived. Hildebrand Road is between Sherrills Ford Road and Statesville Boulevard off N.C. 801 in western Rowan County.
Investigators continue to conduct interviews, collect and analyze evidence in an effort to establish the chain of events that lead to this incident, a statement said. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the State Bureau of Investigation.
