In this photograph from the Faith Fourth of July in 1976, 11-year-old Joey Miller celebrates his capture of the $20 bill from the top of a greased pole. As you can see, he had the help of several other friends and family members. Donnie Miller, a cousin of Joey’s, is the last man visible at the bottom of the chain leading to Joey’s triumphant snatch. Faith Elementary School provides a background for the holiday scene. Joey’s mother, Hazel Miller Cress, submitted this picture, taken by a Post photographer.
