Kara Elizabeth Preston of Rockwell and Jason Allen Burnett of Salisbury were united in marriage Saturday, June 29, 2013. The ceremony was held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Salisbury at 5 in the afternoon with the Rev. William S. Ketchie officiating, and was followed by a reception at the Historic Salisbury Station.
The bride was escorted by her father, Mr. David Preston, and attended by her sister, Ms. Brynne Lippard, as maid of honor. Serving as bridesmaids were Ms. Camryn Bost of Salisbury, cousin of the bride, Mrs. Tiffany Kneip of China Grove, Mrs. Leigh Ann Preston of New York City, sister-in-law of the bride, Mrs. Katie Herring of Rockwell, Ms. Bailee Johnson of Salisbury, Mrs. Jaime Riffle of Belews Creek, and Mrs. Jessica Webster of Charlotte.
Mr. Allen Burnett stood as his sonÕs best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Bobby Burleyson of Salisbury, Mr. Michael Lippard of Rockwell, father of the bride, Mr. Reid Lippard of Rockwell, brother of the bride, Mr. Derrick Preston of New York City, brother of the bride, and Mr. Josh Stiller of Salisbury.
Serving as ceremony readers were Mrs. Julie Hartley of Boone and Ms. Kacie Goodnight of Charlotte. Music for the ceremony was provided by Mrs. Susan Trivette, organist, and Ms. Jessica Lyerly, Ms. Katie Lyerly, Ms. Megan Lyerly, and Mr. Ben Sigmon as vocalists. Mrs. Lindsay Brown of China Grove served as the guest register and program attendant. Suzanne Dinse and Cynthia Alligood served as wedding directors.
The bride is the daughter of Michael and Julie Holshouser Lippard of Rockwell and David and Kim Preston of Weddington; and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Holshouser of Rockwell, Ms. Nancy Preston and the late Mr. Thomas Michael Preston, Jr. of Indianland, and Mrs. Patricia Lippard and the late Mr. William Lee Lippard, Jr. of Salisbury.
A 2004 graduate of East Rowan High School, Kara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2008. She earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Supervision from UNC-Charlotte in 2012. Kara is currently employed as a third grade teacher for Cabarrus County School System.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Burnett of Salisbury, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Simpson, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Burnett, both of Salisbury.
A 2002 graduate of East Rowan High School, Jason earned an AssociateÕs Degree in Business Administration from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in 2005. Jason is currently employed as Assistant Fire Marshal for Cabarrus County and serves as a volunteer firefighter with South Salisbury Fire Department.
Kara was honored with a shower at Rocky River Elementary School on April 12 hosted by her co-workers and at a shower on June 1 at the home of her aunt, Jennie Bost, and cousin, Camryn Bost. The couple was honored at a coupleÕs shower at the home of Chase and Tiffany Kneip on May 11, hosted by members of the wedding party. Kara and her bridesmaids were honored at a luncheon on June 28, at the home of Tippie Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Burnett hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Country Club of Salisbury on the evening of June 28.
Following a wedding trip to Amelia Island, the couple will make their home in Salisbury.
